George is planning to follow the current trend in TV and do the show as a
western, but as often happens, the distinction betwee n the show and reality is
blurred, and somehow we wind up with a plot which
focuses on guest star Douglas Dumbrille's portrayal of a stern army general who
wants his son to go to West Point rather than to get married. Gracie provides
her "help" and somehow the conflict is
resolved (in spite of it).
Synopsis 2:
Gracie agrees to help a newlywed couple keep their marriage a secret from the

Gracie decides that the only way to get Ronnie to study and pay less attention

Since she's very cultured, George Burns isn't invited, and his neighbor, Harry

Gracie gets a really convoluted idea to help Brian McAfee pass a difficult exam:
she tries to get Brian's bright classmate, Alfred Kramer, to change his name to
Brian McAfee before the exam is given.
This way "Brian McAfee" will excell. Gracie's method is to suggest to Alfred
that he would be movie star material if he would change his name and stop
wearing glasses. This leads to much confusion and some very poor vision for
Alfred.
Synopsis 2:
Gracie resorts to cheating in an effort to help Brian McAffee, in his 10th year
at college, to pass a crucial exam. [JB]
Synopsis 3:
Education receives a serious setback when Gracie Allen is asked to help a
college student pass an exam.
Newspaper review:
Gracie tries to help a backward Texan pass his college tests. George's monologue
on exams is amusing, and so is Gracie's driving test. Some good moments.

house belongs to his parents, and Gracie decides to further the charade by

Harry Morton's safety record is in jeopardy as he collides with another car
while driving with Gracie as a passenger. Complications arise when the driver of
the other car is a young lady who attracts the interest of Ronnie.
Synopsis 2:
Gracie and Harry Morton get into a car mishap.
Synopsis 3:
Gracie happens to be riding with their neighbor, Harry Morton, at the time of an
accident, but George convinces her she should not testify in court on Harry's
behalf.
Synopsis 4:
While Gracie is driving with neighbor Harry Morton, they have a minor traffic
accident. Gracie is all ready to testify in behalf of Harry, when the driver of
the other car, a pretty girl, appears on the scene, Ronnie persuades his mother
she must testify against Harry. [JB]

A slick show as the grownups prevail. Gracie is about to testify for Harry
morton in a traffic accident George is afraid Gracie's testimony will put Harry
away for life and he plots to change Gracie's mind. Teenagers can watch Ronn ie
necking for a few moments with a handsome creature named Maye Loizeaux.

land a part as a Japanese girl in one of producer Walter Sinclair's movies.
Synopsis 2:
Gracie is approached by Ronnie and his girl, Bonnie Sue, for help in getting
Bonnie Sue the role of a Japanese girl in an upcoming movie. Gracie agrees to
try, but the plan becomes complicated when Harry Von Zell decides he wants to
hand a part in the same picture. [JB]
Synopsis 3:
George finds himself in the center of an Asian mystery when Gracie tries to help
Ronnie's girl friend land a part in a motion picture.
Synopsis 4:
A Japanese actress is asked to help Ronnie's girl friend secure a role in a
Japanese movie.
Newspaper review:
Gracie has a dinner party and invites a producer to meet Ronnie's girl, hoping
he'll give her a movie role. To explain the dinner, Gracie tells George it's
their 10th anniversary. There's a delightful scene between George and Gracie as
they try to figure out just what they're celebrating. Bright show.
8.21 [273] Burns and Allen: HYPNOTIZING GRACIE

Synopsis 1:
Hypnosis alters Gracie's personality.
Synopsis 2:
Despite inner misgivings, George Burns allows Gracie to meet a hypnotist and his
worst fears are realized when Gracie emerges from the meeting with a completely
different personality.
Synopsis 3:
Gracie persuades George to let her see a hypnotist. She comes b ack from the
meeting a completely changed woman. In fact, Gracie shows signs of being a
genius, much to George's dismay. [JB]
Synopsis 4:
A hypnotist succeeds in transforming Gracie into the smartest woman in the
world, and no one can snap her out of it. [PT]
Newspaper review:
In this enjoyable show, Gracie is hypnotized and gives intelligent answers.
She's not easily hypnotized though, and almost makes a professor give up his
trade. Gracie gets just as many laughs with straight answers, so her fans won't
be disappointed.
8.22 [274] Burns and Allen: GRACIE IS BRILLIANT

Hypnosis increases Gracie's I.Q.
Synopsis 2:
Gracie Allen, so changed by hypnosis that she is capable of high level
conferences with world authorities on every subject, becomes a big problem.

Gracie starts winning all the quiz shows and George is reduced to doi ng all

Synopsis 4:
Thanks to a hypnotist, Gracie's become a mental giant. But poor George is a
little tired of Gracie's new-found genius, and longs for his wife to be her old
scatterbrained self. Unfortunately, the hypnotist has disappeared. [JB]

Gracie's still a brain trust tonight, and she's about to make a killing on a
quiz show. Talking with neighbor Harry Morton is more interesting now than
jabbering with Blanche and husband George. It's all good fun, but the best scene
comes at the beginning when George cooks breakfast for Gracie.

only member of her own Ronnie Burns fan club. And, by the way, she happens to
have a gorgeous older sister.

George discusses the production of a movie with producer Jack Bradley. Gracie
attempts to cast family and friends in the movie, but runs into trouble when it
turns out she is basing her plans on a rejected script.
Synopsis 3:
Gracie begins casting family and friends in a proposed movie; Harry Morton's
father visits.
Newspaper review:
An enjoyable shambles tonight, as Gracie stages a show in her living room to
impress a movie producer. She and neighbor Blanche are cast as dance-hall girls.
Gracie, of course, is using the wrong script, but it's ever so much better this
way.

exam.
Synopsis 3:
Gracie has a wonderful plan to help her plumber-friend Mr. Jantzen pass an
insurance medical examination. She will merely substitute George in his place! [JB]

Cheerful episode with George trying to get in a game of golf, but finding it
impossible to get out of the house. Gracie takes his car, a doctor comes to
examine him, and son Ronnie waylays him, but George doesn't really seem to mind.

Synopsis 1:
To cure a fan of her infatuation for Ronnie, Gracie announces his marriage to
another girl.
Synopsis 2:
Ronnie and his girlfriend read of their ma rriage.
Synopsis 3:
In an att empt to end a young girl's infatuation with Ronnie, Gracie and Harry
Von Zell decide to announce that Ronnie is married. Ronnie quite surprised when
he reads the announcement in the newspaper, but the girl, Bonnie Sue, is more
than just surprised. [JB]

Ronnie has a young girl pestering him, and when Gracie tries to stop her by
saying Ronnie is married, the news hits the papers. Lots of scenes with the

Synopsis 1:
Blanche has been called for jury duty, and Harry calls the judge to make sure
she is accepted.
Synopsis 2:
Harry Morton is happy to learn that wife Blanche has been summoned for a month's
jury duty. When he calls the judge to be sure they accept Blanche, Harry is only
thinkin g about enjoying a month of peace and quiet. But the judge suspects it
is a ruse to avoid serving on a jury. In the confusion, Gracie manages to get
her name on the list for jury duty too. [JB]

Gracie manages to disrupt the entire courtroom when she begins her stint as a
member of a jury. A counterfeiter is on trial, and Gracie inadvertently purloins

Son Ronnie is about to join the army and Gracie gets in some last moments of
mothering him. She has a fine time getting Ronnie and George out of bed early
for prectice. Getting up early doesn't bother Gracie. She's so nice making
