Mrs. Sohmers sneaks her the questions in advance. The best laughs come from

bought Gracie. George doesn't know that Gracie replaced the real pearls with

A delightful Christmas show, opening with George in jail. You'll like his
monolog behind bars...and he sings. Gracie and Blanche figure out ways to con
their husbands into buying them the right presents.

Thi s epi sode finds George in the "pokey." George narrates the events of the
few days before, recounting an almost Shakespearean comedy of errors. Blanche
and Gracie conspire to trick their husbands into buying exactly what they want
for Christmas, a jeweled watch and a pearl necklace. Yet again, George is caught
in the whirlpool of confusion when Gracie does a favor for her son. With
elegantly timed precision, Grace Allen delivers her lines, as George expertly

entertaining session, with Gracie getting the biggest laughs.

Gracie is working on George for a Palm Springs vacation and Ronnie is begging
his dad to stay home. The most effective moments come when Gracie spins in and
out of George's office tryin g t o get him to change his mind. Saying "no" to
Gracie only brings about more scenes with her, which makes this an amusing
episode.

prediction of sudden wealth. She stages a one-woman buying spree which nearly
sends George to the poorhouse. Not one of their better shows, but amusing.

When neighbors Harry and Blanche Morton appear happier than ever after patching
up a fight, Gracie decides that the only way she and George can be happy is by
having a fight too. [JB]
Synopsis 6:
In an attempt to keep her marriage happy, Gracie decides to provoke George into
an argument. She figures reconciliation will make them happier than ever before,
since it had that effect on their next-door neighbors, the Mortons. When nothing
else seems to rile George, Gracie starts off the fireworks telling George that

Gracie watches a young married couple fight and make up, then she gets the
Mortons to do the same. Her problem is this: She can't get George mad enough to
fight so that she can get a shot at the kissing part. First half is the most
fun, as Gracie thinks of ways to cause trouble.

The Burns' kitchen is a scene of chaos when Gracie tells George that she's lost
her engagement ring.

Gracie is in rare form. She gives her engagement ring to Ronnie, her son, then
asks Blanche to help her think up a believable explanation for George. She also

The Burns' friend, Mary Livingstone, becomes involved in one of Gracie's

familiar words or objects. Naturally, she gets a wrong number a nd ends up
talking to Mary Livingstone. George has a good monologue on doling out money to
Ronnie and Gracie. Up to par.

hotel which doesn't allow pets so, naturally, she comes up with an adorable
poodle. Charming as ever.

Ronnie's hectic schedule disrupts the household.
Synopsis 2:
The Burns' household is disrupted as a result of R onnie's h ectic school
schedule.
Synopsis 3:
Ronnie's part in the movie "Bernardine" requires him to be on the set early in
the morning. Fearing that George will not approve of the interruptions in his
son's college curriculum, Gracie attempts to keep Ronnie's movie work a secret.

When the Burns' plumber, a widower with four grown daughters, announces that
he's looking for a wife, Gracie volunteers to handle the details of placing an
ad in the personal column. But a young and attractive girl answers the ad and
it's evident Gracie has stretched the truth quite a bit! [TA/JB]

Gracie tries to find a wife for her new friend, the plumber, played by Howard
McNear. The plumber is a pretty good foil for Gracie, making her lines seem even
daffier. Gracie plants an ad for a wife in the paper, and you'll like her
reasoning on the amount of truth found in the personal columns.

Gracie and Blanche have been complaining that their husbands have lost their
romantic spark. George finally decides on a scheme to teach them a lesson, and
persuades Harry to Pose as an amorous Frenchman to test Blanche. [JB]

Gracie and her neighbor, Blanche, feel their husbands aren't as romantic as they
should be. To put George in the proper mood, Gracie cooks him a breakfast
complete with candles and crepes suz ette. The first half is the funniest with
Gracie as a seductive, half-crazy housewife.

dilemma by having Harry von Zell pose as the starlet's Italian-born father. [JB]
Newspaper review:
Nicely balanced comedy show. Gracie is charming when she asks Ronnie to tell her
about his big evening out with an Italian actress. Then George Burns has some
wry observations in his monolog about the value of publicity agents. Harry
Morton turns out to have a very fine "mast ery" of the Italian language.

Ronnie makes a down payment on a sleek 2 2 foot cruiser but runs into rough
waters at home.
Synopsis 2:
George is really at sea when son Ronnie makes a down payment on an expensive
boat. Gracie comes to Ronnie's rescue in a scheme to convince George that the
boat is a necessity for their health. [JB]

Son Ronnie wants to buy a boat, if he can get his father's consent. Gracie holds
a meeting with friend Blanche and Harry von Zell to dream up an idea to convince
George that his son needs a boat. Thinks get pretty funny as Gracie attempts to
use correct parliamentary procedure. Also an amusing routine at the end when
Gracie tells about her cousin, "Boulder" Allen, engineer.

years, the collegian has flunked out again, and his wealthy Texas father is en
route to be present at the boy's graduation. [JB]

More on Brian, the Texan who is friends with Ronnie Burns. Brian is flunking
college, but his father is arriving to see him graduate. Gracie is asked to save
the day. This has more appeal for youngsters than older fans.

Harry and his mother-in-law do not take kindly to each other, Gracie offers to
