*Note: Based on the movie of Theodore Dreiser's novel "An American Tragedy".
George Stevens who won the academy award for his direction of the movie, has
been acting as an adviser to the producers of this show.
Shelley Winters was offered the part for TV because she had done the screen version but declined.
*Note: The show also marks Red Book magazine's 15th Annual Motion Picture Awards
and honors will be bestowed by Ronald Reagan, who'll emcee the doings.
*Note: As the story unfolds, two of CBS-TV's giant studios here will be utilized
and no less than 17 sets will be required. The budget of this program was $50,000.

Synopsis:
A wealthy bachelor dies suddenly, leaving his lawyer with unWritten instructions
that the woman he loves should benefit from his estate. He never names the woman
and the lawyer is forced to play detective, which results in complications.


*Note: This episode closed the 1953/54 season and was the final "Lux Video Theatre" at CBS.
Next Season the show moves to NBC and a new one hour format.
