Background:
In 1972 there was an FCC ruling in the States which gave the 7.30pm--8pm slot back to the independent stations.
"The Protectors" was specifically created to take advantage of this situation and was syndicated to tie-- in with
sponsor Faberge's area--by--area advertising.  "The Adventurer" was another such show., sponsored by Chevrolet.
(One reason why these were half hour shows). Lew Grade never let a business opportunity pass!! "The Protectors"
served its purpose as a "lead in" show to the stations Network offerings and a third series would have been made
but for a disagreement with Faberge who decided to stop sponsoring weekly TV series. Faberge would also have
contributed to the new "UFO:1999" series but it was not to be.

The Adventurer (ITC) (1972) starring Gene Barry
