On the way home from his sister Abby's, Sid stops to give a young girl a
ride when it appears that she is being harassed on the street corner. Once
in the car she asks Sid for some money. He politely refuses, so the girl
begins to scream rape. Sid is pulled over and falsely arrested for
attempted rape. He hires Richard as his attorney, who tries to bribe the
girl into a settlement. Meanwhile, recently divorced Abby arrives with her
two kids Brian and Olivia. Kenny tries to make up with Ginger, but she refuses
unless he dumps Sylvie.

Karen discovers that Richard offered Pam a bribe which leads to Sid firing
him. Sid and Karen hire a criminal attorney who helps them uncover the scam
that Pam and her friends were running. With no substantial evidence against
Sid, the rape charges are dropped. Abby decides to rent the empty house on the
cul-de-sac.

Gary becomes an AA sponsor for troubled alcoholic Earl Trent. Earl's
drinking is causing a lot of problems in his marriage to wife Judy. Gary
tries to help Earl, but he just wants to continue drinking. After a long
night of drinking, Gary helps Earl sober up and gets him to a hospital.
Kenny talks Ginger into going out with him, but he is still unwilling to dump
Sylvie.

Richard impresses a hot shot lawyer while working on a case with his firm.
The attorney implies he may have a position for Richard with his firm in
Chicago. Richard's partners are also impressed and offer him a full
partnership, but believing he has the other job, decides to quit. Richard
announces to Laura that they are moving to Chicago, which means Laura would
have to quit her new job. When Richard goes to inquire about the position,
he's offered a lower salary. Richard breaks down in tears when he tells
Laura that he is now unemployed. Gary hires a young, beautiful automotive
mechanic to work at the garage. Two suspicious businessmen, Roy and Frank,
present Gary with a deal to buy 15 new cars which could really help the
dealership's financial troubles. Sid does not want to deal with them, but
Gary blindly agrees to the deal behind his back.

Kristin Shepard arrives in Knots Landing and stirs up a heap of trouble for
Kenny and Ginger. She is falsely arrested for drug possession and with no
where else to turn, calls Val to bail her out. While staying with Val and
Gary, Kristin is introduced to lonely Kenny who is still separated from
Ginger and now having problems with Sylvie. Meanwhile, Ginger meets a
pediatrician and the two hit it off. When Kenny sees them together, he
retaliates by fooling around with Kristin. Ginger walks in on them which
pushes her to file for divorce. Kristin admits to Val that she hoped to use
Kenny as a father for her unborn baby. Meanwhile, unemployed Richard
continues to lounge around the house, flirt with Abby, and make Laura's life
miserable.
2.6 [19] Knots Landing: "STEP ONE"

Diana gives into peer pressure and decides to have sex with her boyfriend.
She tries numerous times to talk with her mother about it, but Karen
continues to be occupied with the other kids or planning the upcoming ERA
benefit. Diana ultimately has sex and is very distraught over the incident.
Finally, she and Karen have a talk about it. Diana admits sex made her feel
dirty and Karen explains that it probably happened too soon. Meanwhile,
Richard and Abby's flirting intensifies as she asks Richard to come over
and do some "odd jobs" while Laura is at work. Kenny comes through with the
sound equipment for the benefit, but a visit from Sylvie is enough to upset
Ginger all over again.
2.7 [20] Knots Landing: "BREACH OF FAITH"

Judy becomes impatient with drunken husband Earl and more attracted to
Gary. While Gary and Judy wait for Earl to come home after his latest
binge, they have an affair. Gary later lies to Val about what he was doing
all night. The neighbors throw a party for Laura to celebrate her passing
of the real estate licensing exam. Richard uses the party to humiliate
Laura and flirt with Abby. Kenny is invited and shows up alone only to run
into Ginger and her date. He later confronts Ginger about the state of
their marriage. She tells him to leave his keys and never come back. Later,
Ginger finds out she's pregnant.

Karen and Sid discover that Michael has a childhood disease hyper-
kineasia, which causes hyperactivity and a short attention span. Gary
continues to get in deeper and deeper with Roy and Frank. They threaten to
hurt him and his family if he does not come up with money to buy a shipment
of stolen auto parts. Since Gary cannot go to Sid, Abby suggests that he
borrow the money from his brother. Laura keeps trying to talk to Richard
about their problems, but he is even more reluctant to solve them and
continues his affair with Abby. Meanwhile, Ginger continues to hide her
pregnancy from Kenny.
2.9 [22] Knots Landing: "A FAMILY MATTER"

Gary's brother J.R. comes to L.A. for business, Abby takes it upon herself
to ask him to loan Gary the money to buy the stolen auto parts from Roy and
Frank. J.R. agrees to loan Gary the money only if Abby sleeps him. Richard
complains to Laura that they never go out anymore, but Laura sees right
through him, saying he is only jealous that he was not invited to Abby's
dinner party. Kenny breaks off his affair with Sylvie and tells Ginger he
wants to move back to the house. She refuses and still does not tell him about
her pregnancy.
2.10 [23] Knots Landing: "CHOICES"

Gary manages to sell the auto parts and actually doubles his profit in the
process. Gary has other problems though, when Abby schemes to break up his
ongoing affair with Judy. Abby takes Val to the restaurant where Gary and
Judy are having dinner. Val suspects they are having an affair, but Gary
flatly denies it. Val believes him until Judy goes to her and admits they
are indeed having an affair. When Gary finds out he breaks it off with Judy
and tries to make up with Val. Val finally forgives him, but her trust in
him is severely damaged. Abby starts to lose interest in Richard, but
reluctantly invites him over to her house. Linda invites Sid to a stock car race
for the weekend.
2.11 [24] Knots Landing: "A STATE OF MIND"

Abby's ex-husband is convinced she has not been a good role model to their
children. He files for custody in order to get children into a more moral
and stable environment. In order to get Jeff to drop the suit, Abby is
forced to clean up her act and break off her affair with Richard. She and
Jeff sleep together, but Abby maintains that their marriage is over. Laura
is tempted to have an affair with one of her clients, but vows to make her
marriage work.
2.12 [25] Knots Landing: "PLAYERS"

Karen invites Linda over to the house for dessert, with the hope of setting
her up with Sid and Abby's nephew. Abby tries to warn Karen that Linda is
in love with Sid. Sid is unaware of Linda's feelings until they are
accidentally stranded in the middle of the desert. Linda confesses her love
and pleads that he not go for help. Although tempted, Sid flags down a
truck and they are rescued without anything happening. Karen later
questions Sid about Linda and he insists nothing happened. Richard finally
gets a job with a brokerage firm, but even this job is not enough to
compete with Laura's latest commission. Ginger finally tells Kenny about
her pregnancy, but is still not ready to let him move back into the house.
2.13 [26] Knots Landing: "THE LOUDEST WORD"

Val is found to have a malignant growth in her colon that resulted from a
tumor. If the remaining growth is too low in her colon, she may need a
colostomy. Gary feels guilty that he has not been committed to Val lately,
and has a emotional breakdown. He calls his mother and says he can't go
through the guilt and he should be the one in the hospital. Miss Ellie
sends Bobby to give moral support. The surgery indicates that Val does not
need a colostomy after all. Gary vows to always be committed her. Ginger
finally lets Kenny back into her life.
2.14 [27] Knots Landing: "MOMENTS OF TRUTH"

The women of the cul-de-sac are robbed at gunpoint while having a baby
shower for Ginger at Val and Gary's. The men and police arrive, and the
robbers decide to hold the women hostage until the police provide an escape
van. A long night of waiting and negotiating ensues between the police and
the robbers. Around dawn, a SWAT team enters the house and everyone is rescued
safely.
2.15 [28] Knots Landing: "MAN OF THE HOUR"

Eric's friend asks him to hold some joints for a party with turn out to be
laced with angel dust. Ginger's sister ends up going on a "bad trip" after
smoking one and runs into the ocean. Eric pulls her out and saves her life.
However, she falls into a coma and Eric feels very responsible. She finally
comes out of the coma and recovers. Abby fears that Jeff has kidnapped the
kids. He ultimately brings them back, but she is still unsure of his motives.
2.16 [29] Knots Landing: "MORE THAN FRIENDS"

Earl substitute teaches Val's creative writing class. He tries to make up
with Val by offering to help with her writing. Gary warns Val to stay away
because Earl is just trying to get back at him because of his affair with
Judy. Earl does just that, telling Val the best way to get back at Judy and
Gary is for the two of them to have an affair. Val refuses and Earl breaks
down in tears. Gary arrives and tells Earl he's sorry, but Earl and his
drinking were the primary reason his marriage did not work. Richard and
Laura have a dinner party for Laura's boss, Scooter, and his wife. Scooter
and Laura flirt throughout the evening and talk about having an affair, but
decide to remain friends.
2.17 [30] Knots Landing: "DESIGNS"

J.R. wants to form a company to manufacture the engine Sid has been
designing. He offers to back Sid financially and split the profits with
him. Sid insists the engine is not ready for manufacturing. J.R. disagrees
and convinces Abby to steal copies of the engine plans. Karen becomes
suspicious of Abby and insists Sid question her about the plans. Abby acts
shocked Sid would even question her. Meanwhile, Jeff appears to be taking
the kids on a camping trip. Unknown to Abby, he also takes all of their
clothes. Karen notices Jeff leaving and fears he has stolen the children.
Abby does not believe her, but Karen is convinced they are missing.
2.18 [31] Knots Landing: SQUEEZEPLAY

The FBI begins to nose around the dealership about stolen auto parts. Karen
notices the FBI talking to Gary and becomes even more suspicious when the
FBI parks at the end of the street. Karen and Richard sneak into the
dealership and discover large hidden profits in the books. Sid summons Gary
and Abby and asks them to explain the books. Gary explains about Roy and
Frank and the deal he made with them. Abby denies having any part of the
deal. Sid goes to the FBI and agrees to help them capture Roy and Frank.
They set up a sting operation and Roy and Frank are eventually arrested.
The FBI fears Roy and Frank are part of the mob or organized crime, so they
set up protection for Abby, Sid, Gary and their families. However, a
mechanic at the garage tampers with the brakes on a car Sid decides to test
drive on the way home. The brakes fail causing the car to propel over a
cliff. Meanwhile, Abby receives a tape from Jeff saying he had taken the
kids and was never bringing them back.
