"The Lucy Show" had two formats, both of which starred
Lucille Ball as widow, Lucy Carmichael:-

Format One: (seasons 1-3)(1962-65)
During the first three seasons of the
series, Lucy lived in the small town of Danfield, New York, where she shared her
home with her two children, Chris and Jerry; her best friend Vivian Bagley; and
Vivian's son Sherman. Occasionally seen during the first season were Lucy and
Vivian's neighbor Harry Conners, and Lucy's banker guardian of her trust fund
Mr. Barnsdahl. At the start of the second season, Gale Gordon joined the cast as
Mr. Mooney, Lucy's new banker who took over Mr. Barnsdahl's position at the
bank.
Format Two: (seasons 4-6)(1965-68)
When Vivian Vance decided to depart from the series following the
third season, the show's format was drastically changed. With daughter Chris
having just gone away to college, Lucy moved to an apartment in Los Angeles
where she promptly enrolled her son Jerry in a military academy. Coincidentally,
Mr. Mooney was transferred to the Westland Bank in Los Angeles and was again
handling Lucy's trust fund. Whereas he was the President of the Danfield bank,
he was Vice-President of the Westland Bank. A short while later, Mr. Mooney
reluctantly hired Lucy as his part-time secretary. Mary Jane Croft became a
series regular as Lucy's friend Mary Jane Lewis (her real-life married name).
