Synopsis:

The boy is Christopher Jury, a teenage bird watcher whose interest  in the

nearly extinct California Condor inspired him to seek his own wings.

This documentary-style adventure follows Chris as he takes up gliding, thanks

to encouragement from a young sailplane pilot named Margaret. Invited to

come and try it sometime, Chris attends a glider meet and joins a soaring school.

 Later, he accepts an offer from a NASA test pilot to see research gliders in action.

Chris is soon hooked on the sport and decides to earn the coveted Diamond C Badge.

 It's a stiff challenge for the boy - who undertakes a stormy flight along the

eastern face of the Sierra Nevadas. [RF]
