Brief Synopsis:
The Graingers befriend a new arrival in town--Stephanie White (Joan Crawford),
the recent bride of a prominent Medicine Bow businessman. But soon the
woman is plagued by misfortune. Her husband's son, business associate, and
housekeeper resent her, Mr.White is paralyzed in a contrived accident, her
home is destroyed by fire, and then she's accused of manslaughter.
