Synopsis:
Widower Stavros Karas (Constantine) has sent to the Old Country for a wife,
but what he really wants is just someone to keep his house and care for his
children.  When a beautiful young Eleni [Sorel] arrives instead of the
expected older woman Stavros has trouble accepting her and procrastinates
the marriage.  He explains to the girl that he had misrepresented himself by
writing to her father about his large fig orchard and "palace" and could not
take her for a wife until his "trees" were established.
Leaving Eleni with Judge Garth and Jennifer, Stavros concentrates on trying
to save his soon-to-bud saplings from the drought and, feeling he can't wait
for a court order, illegally diverts water from a neighboring rancher's property.
Through it all Eleni maintains faith in her intended husband.  But Sam
Cousins (Hayes), the ranchers son, would have "the Greek" lose his means of
livelihood since he wants to court Eleni for himself. (bj)
