Synopsis 1:
In order to keep its mail franchise the Overland must maintain the schedule to
California despite the threat of a
Sioux uprising. Though warned of danger, several passengers insist on making the
trip--a headstrong but cowardly wife
of a cavalry officer (Lloyd), a woman who must get to California in time for her
son's hanging (Wooddell), a newly
married couple (Kemmer and Heath), a fugitive doctor (Platt), and an employee
from another stage line (?Carney) out to
sabotage the Overland's run. Indian attacks aren't the only obstacles Kelly and
Flip must face. Trouble brews when the
stage takes on a bounty hunter (Keymas) who's trailing the doctor, the rival
steals the horses, and the new bride's
appendix ruptures.
Note: This episode's "historic figure" was James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok as
the Marshal of Deadwood who briefly jails
Flip for his part in a saloon fight which was instigated by the competing stage
company. (bj)
Synopsis 2:
Kelly and Flip know this jaunt takes them through hostile Indian country. During
the journey, they learn their
passengers reasons for making this risky trip. [JB]
