Background:
This was the original pilot for a proposed series title "Black Saddle" that starred veteran character actor Chris Alcaide,
that aired on "Zane Grey Theatre". Writer John McGreevey wrote an outline for a proposed series about a famous gunfighter
who is almost killed in a gunfight, and later decides to become a lawyer. McGreevey got together with producer Hal Hudson
and came up with a script titled: "A Threat Of Violence", which ended up on "Zane Gret Theatre" as a proposed series pilot.
Veteran charator actor, Chris Alcaide was picked to play the part of Clay Culane, the gunfighter turned lawyer. After the episode
aired in May 1958, it didn't really sell right away. The producers decided to go ahead with the series in 1959 and selected
actor Peter Breck to play the part of Clay Culhane. [SC]
