The story of a school bus driver who is to be honored by the community with a
safe driving award.
The driver Ed Simmons, however, views the imminent ceremonies with dread,
fearful the consequent
personal publicity will throw the limelight on his guilty past. His wife and son
are confused,
then alarmed by his strange behavior, as he apparently seeks to run from the
honor. When the son learns
the truth, he turns to a local Legal Aid lawyer in an attempt to untangle his
father's web of guilt. [RF]

Synopsis:
Harry Larner is driving home late at night in a blinding rainstorm. He lowers
his head for a moment
to light a cigarette and then looks up. Ahead of him looms a newsboy on a
bicycle. He desperately
swings the wheel in a vain attempt to avoid crashing into him. After a brief
agonizing moment of
indecision after Harry stops his car to look at the prostrate boy with the
crumpled bike and the
newspapers scattered all over the street. Harry panic stricken jumps back into
his car and drives off.
He does not tell his wife about the accident and from this point on the mounting
tension in Harry as
he tries in vain to run from his hit-and-run crime only to find it waiting for
him at each turn. [RF]

The plaque he erected on the hallowed ground is endangered by a proposed road

*NOTE: Daniel Petrie, the show's director, stepped in when the leading
man James Barton lost his voice.
He played the role convincingly - his lines being fed to him through an earpiece
that looked like a hearing aid.
