Premise:
The subjective camera is used to detail the investigations of a never-seen
lieutenant with the N.Y.P.D. By the use of the subjective camera, which enacts
emotion and becomes the eyes of the lieutenant, the viewer hears the actor's
voice and experiences situations as if he were actually present.

Background:
The Plainclothesman was the first network television police drama.
The program was groundbreaking an was expected to do as well as "Dragnet", however DuMont
had a difficult time period with Sundays at 10pm against "The Loretta Young Show".
The Plainclothesman was cancelled in 1954; the last program aired on 12-Sep-1954.
