The girls flash back to how they came together. Mongo, Pipeline, J.B. and Books already knew one another. Mongo and Books
hated each other and often came close to fisticuffs in the locker room. There was a new addition – a young blonde, new
to roller derby named Honey Bee Novak (to whom their new coach, the underhanded Don Mitchell was attracted). Financial
woes led to disappointments as the girls were made to sleep in the locker room instead of the apartments they were promised.
There was also a big problem with their first paycheck. [RL]
