Millie Cast Wins Reprieve
By STEVEN H. SCHEUER
Meet Millie was supposed to bow out in late September to make way for a new film series Joe and Mabel. On the Sunday before the Tuesday debut
for Joe and Mabel, the Meet Millie cast was called and told to report Monday for rehearsals.
Joe and Mabel never appeared because there weren't enough films completed and those that were finished were not very amusing.
Millie went on that Tuesday night with only a day and a half of rehearsals and will continue for a few more weeks until Joe and Mabel really gets on the air.
So Millie fans are happy for a few more weeks.
The producers have changed and the plot has been altered. Millie's marriage plans are out the window because there are already a number of
young married couple comedies and there was no sense adding another.
This extended run blew all vacation plans for the cast.
Elena Verdugo was practically on her way to Alaska when she got word to come back, Marvin Kaplan (Alfred Prinzmetal) was about to take in Europe.
Roland Winters thought he was going to have a chance to make some movies, and then said no, but nobody's unhappy. They all still like each other
after three years and that's almost unheard of here in Hollywood. (Long Island NY Star-Journal)
