Premise:
Dissatisfied with city life, a widower, Bob Major, quits his
job and moves to Phippsboro, a small New England community, with
his 6-year-old son Benji. There he purchase the local newspaper, the "Bulletin",
and becomes it's new editor (replacing Ichabod Adams, now the traffic
commissioner, and his consultant). Stories relate incidents in the lives
of the people of a small town as seen through the eyes of a newspaper
publisher.

Synopsis:
Visiting newspaper man (Robert Majors-Frank Beir), through Ichabod's cunning,
rents
one of the Adams properties, and does all the work in the apple orchard as well.
Meanwhile, Majors' former boss, Mr. Fownes (Leon Ames) tries to get him to come
to
his senses and come back to the big city. Majors also has a bulldog he's named
Fownes because of the resemblance to his boss. [RL]

Synopsis:

Synopsis:
Ichabod Adams has been mayor of Phippsboro for 28 years, and always runs for
re-election unopposed. This year is different while, at a town meeting, Robert
Majors (Robert Sterling) is nominated as the opposition - and early polls have
him well in the lead, raising the ire of Ichabod's daughter, Abigail. She is
furious with Majors until she realilzes that he really, truly doesn't want the
job.
He wriggles out of the nomination when he purposely blows his chances in a
political
debate, thus reinforcing the re-election of Ichabod. [RL]
