Synopsis:
M.C. Bird, laments, "It's Tough To Be A Bird", because men like to shoot, cage
and eat them. Crying fowl, the cartoon host of this Oscar winning short defends
his heritage by tracing the evolution of birds, their influence on human culture and their
contributions to language (i.e. bird brain, chicken-hearted). In a live action sequence,
buzzards make their yearly return to Hinckley, Ohio (to the off key accompaniment of
Ruth Buzzi). Rounding out the hour (the short runs about 20 minutes) are clips from
some Disney films. [RF]

Also covered .... the evolution of birds (with pictures of extinct and
threatened species);
Audubon's hand-colored lithographs; bird watchers in action; bird motions set
