TRIVIA: Dumont footed the bill for the series at the rate of $11,500 per week.

The contract was to run 26 weeks, with the plays, both originals and adaptations,

ranging from farce to tragedy. Broadway and Hollywood supplied the supporting players,

with Joseph Schildkraut taking direct part in seven plays out of each set of 13.

Performers such as Sylvia Sidney and John Dennis have been featured.
Schildkraut who won two Academy Awards for his film work, and has been in

Theater Guild productions on Broadway is a native of Vienna, Austria.

His father Rudolph, preceded him on the stage. For the period of the telecasts Schildkraut

and his wife, Marie, have moved from California to a New York Apartment with their

three chihuahua dogs. After 40 years in show business, he says television makes

him feel like a "novice again - I feel just like a youngster".


This series is presented without a studio audience.
