Premise:
The adventures of Grant Mitchell, Captain of the American motor
freighter the "Shipwreck" who sails in the Mediterranean and
Middle East waters and deals in cargoes that are 'only mildly illegal'.
Lorne Greene became more famous for his next role as
Ben Cartwright in 'Bonanza' 1959-73 - a staggering 430 episodes.
Later came 'Griff' a police series in 1974 - pilot + 12 episodes
and then 'Battlestar Gallactica' in 1978 - 24 episodes.

Synopsis:
Mitch is taking a break in Rome while the "Shipwreck" is under repair. While
walking in the Flea Market, he meets Carlo Biagi, a second hand book dealer.
Carlo tells Mitch that he has discovered an old portrait which he believes
to be a priceless old master, lost for over a century. Menardi, a distinguised
art critic, says the picture is worthless, one of many copies executed down
through the centuries. So vehement are his arguments that they arouse Mitch's
suspicions. Mitch decides to look into the matter further and this leads him
into another adventure.

Synopsis:
The "Shipwreck" receives a weak SOS from an aircraft about to crash. When the
aircraft crashes in the desert, one of its passengers seizes the opportunity

who could ruin his plan. But can he now outwit Mitch. When Mitch goes to its
assistance he finds three survivors, one of whom has a secret he is determined
to keep.
