Synopsis:
The tale of a young girl in Paris whose future happiness is jeopardised by
her Mother's reputation. A crisis develops in Yvette life when a young
nobleman falls in love with her. The young man knows that the girl's mother,
the beautiful Marquise Obardi, keeps a notorious house in the city. Yet
Yvette herself seems so innocent that he cannot believe she has been
corrupted by the evil which surrounds her. Is Yvette really guiltless -

Synopsis:
1. "Old Milon", a peasant's home is taken over.
2. "A Twelfth Night Party" Four French hussars commandeer a deserted chateau. [RF]
3. "A Duel" - A quiet Frenchman sits in a corner of the railway carriage,
looking out of the window. It is a peaceful journey. Then a Prussian Officer
comes into the compartment and begins to taunt his fellow travellor about
France's defeat in the Franco Prussian War. M. Dubuis, the Frenchman, slaps
the officer across the face. He is at once challenged to a duel. M. Dubuis
has to accept, or prove himself a coward. But there is one difficulty:
he has never fired a gun in his life. [DM]

Rose falls in love with a farm hand, Jacques, and becomes pregnant.
Jacques deserts her, and the baby is born in secret and given to another

not remain a secret for ever more. But the situation swiftly changes
when Rose's employer, Emile Vallin, decides that Rose is just the sort

office clerks, will inherit a fortune when her rich aunt dies. A dinner
party is arranged, so that Lesable can meet Cora. He proposes and is
accepted. Cora's aunt eventually dies, and the family turn up for the
traditional reading of the will. More than a million francs go to Cora
- but there is a condition. A condition that will tax all their ingenuity... [DM]
