Premise:
Lucas Tanner is a former baseball player and writer for Sports Week Magazine.
Following the death of his wife Ellie and son Chip in an automobile accident,
he decided to pursue a career as a schoolteacher. Lucas managed to secure
a position in the English Department at Harry S Truman Memorial High School
in Webster Groves, Missouri. He teaches English and American Literature
and is later appointed Student Guidance Counselor. He is often visited by
Glendon Farrell, the youngster who lives next door with his grandmother,
while his parents were on extended leave to administer medical treatment
overseas.
