*[San Antonio Light May 26, 1957]
Martin Kane's character has been changed considerably too, Gargan divulged.
Gone are the trenchcoat, the wisecracking mannerisms, the leers at women and perpetual feuds with the regular police.
The new Martin Kane is quiet and responsible. He doesn't litter his apartment with evidence of wild parties and empty .45 shells.
He is a former Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Intelligence who served with distinction in World War II in the Eighth Air Force.
And liked Europe so much he remained there after the War as a private investigator. He handles special assignments
from business firms - banks, insurance companies, airlines - and from personal clients in trouble who turn to him - usually at the
recommendations of the U.S. Embassy or his friends at Scotland Yard.
Gargan, who actually was a private detective in Brooklyn before entering show business, likes another switch in Kane's
character too - he is friendly with the police of any country in which he is operating.
"And this is far more logical since licensed investigators generally work that way", he says knowingly.
Meanwhile Gargan is having a vacation-with-pay as he terms it - sightseeing the entire English countryside (since most of the shows
are shot on location) as well as Paris, Rome, Munich and the Swiss Alps.
"Mrs. Gargan and I expect to be here through the end of the summer completing the first 39 shows and I'm so pleased with the
way they're going, I want to do another 78 immediately", he said

Have you any comments, corrections, episode titles, air dates, production numbers, directors, writers, story/synopsis, guest stars, cast lists, etc?
Have you any old videos, or tv guides? Dust them off and let us know if you have any information on this series or any other tv series from the
Golden Age of TV, which is missing from any episode guides on the web. Perhaps a certain episode of a particular series coincided with a key
moment in your life, or in world events - and or has left a vivid memory of when it was shown. Let us know. Would you like to see any other
tv series guides on this site? If so please e-mail The Classic TV Archive - see Feedback below.
