2.03 [13] Play of the Month: THE MAKING OF JERICHO
20-Dec-1966 BBC1 UK Tuesday
From : Hylton Holt <hylton.holt@btinternet.com>
: 12 December 2004 17:17:30
It`s always stuck in my mind, my diary entry for the 20th. December `66 says
"Very good Play Of The Month- The Making of Jericho". All I can tell you is
that it concerns a Liverpudlian (?) shipping clerk who`s surname is Bundavin
(spelling?)and who`s middle name he finally admits is Jericho. I feel he was
played by Richard O`Callaghan/ O`Sullivan (whichever one WASN`T in "Man About
The House"). He`s pursuaded to break out of his clerical rut and become an
artist by a chance meeting with a character played by-I`m pretty sure-
Nerys Hughes. We see his hair getting longer and a beard being grown to mark
his new status. Ie. Jericho has been made. The only other thing I recall is
Nerys Hughes`s response to Jericho as a name retorts "Dat`s norra person
name- dat`s a place name!" Well something like that!
Thanks For Nudging My Memory! Hylton Holt <hylton.holt@btinternet.com>
