Synopsis 1:
Bret wins big by bluffing in a poker game against an unscrupulous silver mine
owner, who hires Big Mike Macomb
to kill Bret.
Synopsis 2:
In the series' pilot episode, Bret Maverick sees his luck run out after beating
a corrupt mine owner Phineas King,
at poker. King has Maverick roughed up and wants him out of town -- or dead. But
when Maverick hears that King has
been cheating local silver miners, the gambler decides to deal King another
losing hand. Maverick helps elect a
judge who sides with the local miners. King takes the case to a friendlier
court, yet Maverick has another ace

Synopsis 1:
A couple befriends Bret who plan on using him as a scapegoat for a bank robbery
they are planning.
Synopsis 2:
Bret Maverick has once again caught the eye of a pretty woman, Molly Gleason. He
soon discovers that romance isn't
in the cards. Molly is planning to run away with Ralph Jordan (Mannix's Mike
Connors), after Ralph robs the local
bank. Molly believes that Maverick can provide the perfect alibi -- as Ralph's
unidentifiable dead body!
But when Molly tries to lure Maverick into a murderous ambush, he calls her
