Synopsis:
- The true story of a group of Mormon settlers, too poor to afford wagon
trains, who set out in groups of "hand cart" bands to reach Salt Lake.
Mariette Hartley stars as a mother who's baby is swept away while crossing
a raging river. Indians get to the boy before the search party and the
mother, father and a trapper set out to rescue the infant before the hand
-cart party presses on to the safety of the Salt Lake basin.
