Adam Troy (Gardner McKay) was an American Korean War veteran who stayed
in the South Pacific after the war. As captain of the schooner "Kon Tiki",
Troy drifted from adventure to adventure while carrying passengers and
cargo anywhere from Hong Kong to Pitcairn Island.
His original partner was Chinese-American Oliver Lee (Weaver Levy)
and he was assisted by first mates Clay Baker (James Holden) and
later Chris Parker (Guy Stockwell).

Note:
According to some sources The "Tiki" (real name "Pilgrim") was lost in
the 1980's in the Grenadine Islands (Caribbean Sea) during a hurricane.
It is now actually in Fiji renamed as "Sea Spray".

"I was reading in my local paper, the Oregonian, that Gardner McKay, leading
actor from the series "Adventures in Paradise," circa 1960-62, had passed
away in Maui from Cancer. I was saddened by the loss, as I had been in one
of the episodes entitled "The Secret Place." Somewhere in the darkness of
my garage, I have run across the original script over and over.
My name is Teresa Terry. My brother, Tony Terry was also in the series on
several occasions. He manned the helm for "Adam Troy."
My brother has since passed away, also of cancer, in 1993. He had been in
several films during his life, with Natalie Wood and Tab Hunter in the
"Burning Hills", and in other films, with Ricardo Montalban and Gilbert
Roland, to name a few. I myself did the original Kool Aid Commercial, the
Virginian, Streets of Laredo, with Ida Lupino, and a Carnation Milk poster
that went nationwide and currently has revived under the Milkman powdered
milk label at local grocers. I have often wanted to show my children, who
are now grown, what it was like with me or their uncle on film "back in the
day" as they put it! If by any chance, you have a remake of this particular
episode, I would be very interested in obtaining a copy to show my sons.
Please let me know as soon as possible. I certainly appreciated your website
and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks so much!"
