Chambers to his hometown, where Tom is despised, and where his brother, Jim,
is a respected doctor. Jim tells Jones that he considered Tom to be dead because
of all the pain he'd caused. Jones learns that Jim wanted the farm so he could
build a hospital on the land, but Tom refused to let him have it. Jones is
upset that Tom didn't tell him the whole truth, but then he discovers that
Tom doesn't want the farm for himself--he only wants to sell it and give
