################# appendix ##################
##############################################
"This stiff, constructionist view of law enforcement told of culprit-baiting
by officials in American cities (and once, in the twelfth episode, in
a town in Germany), the malefactors including the usual juvenile
delinquent ("The Probation Officer Story"), the usual bank robbers
("The Portland, Oregon Story", "The Parole Officer Story"), a homicide
at
loose in a circus ("The Case of the Jinxed Circus"), and, in the fact-based
"The Dade County, Florida Story," the story of local inspector
W. A. Childres, a cluster of faulty buildings the amendment of which
significantly curtailed the damage of a 1950 Florida hurricane. Much
too simplistic to substantiate its commitment to archives (but there to
be found nevertheless), although no worse than most contemporary drama
programming, the series is saved for a before-the-film introductory by the
distinguished actor Charles Bickford."
