3.1 [--] Mama: PAPA MAKES A SPEECH
07Sep1951 CBS Fri
Los Angeles: 21Sep1951 KTSL-2
Producer: Carol Irwin.
Director: Ralph Nelson.
Writer: Frank Gabrielson.
—Excerpt from Billboard review:
Episode revolved around papa's excursion into the public speaking field. At first reluctant to address a local dinner,
he soon cottoned to the idea, and finally signed up for a correspondence school speech course.
However, after-dinner speaking sessions haven't changed much since 1900, and poor papa was canceled out before he began.
Consequently, the show ended with him delivering his speech to members of the family in the kitchen after the dinner.
