resolved (in spite of it).
Gracie agrees to help a newlywed couple keep their marriage a secret from the boy's father. [JB]

Gracie goes all out to lend a regal air to her home for the benefit of Lady Crawford, the mother of an English-born girl friend of Ronnie's. The titled guest is "impressed" with the atmosph ere of culture i n the Burns family. [JB]
The mother of Ronnie's new girl friend comes to the Burnses' house for tea. Since she's very cultured, George Burns isn't invited, and his neighbor, Harry Morton, takes his place. Harry scores as an unctuous boor. The show winds up with Gracie's funny comments on relative Noah Allen, a zoo keeper.

The plumber's teenage daughter comes to Gracie for help. The youngster believes her father is seeing a young girl and asks Gracie to help break up the "romance."
The plumbe r's daughter jump s to a false conclusion when she sees her father with a young girl and asks Gracie Allen to help straighten things out. With Howard McNear and Darlene Albert.
Gracie takes action when plumber Jantzen is accused of being a cradle robbing Lothario.
Gracie learns that Mr. Jantzen, the plumber, is going out with a young lady, and has a talk with him. You'll like the little heart-to-heart chat--about the weather, the day Gracie was born, etc. She is in fine form.

Gracie gets a really convoluted idea to help Brian McAfee pass a difficult exam: she tries to get Brian's bright classmate, Alfred Kramer, to change his name to Brian McAfee before the exam is given.
This way "Brian McAfee" will excell. Gracie's method is to suggest to Alfred that he would be movie star material if he would change his name and stop wearing glasses. This leads to much confusion and some very poor vision for Alfred.
Gracie resorts to cheating in an effort to help Brian McAffee, in his 10th year at college, to pass a crucial exam. [JB]
Education receives a serious setback when Gracie Allen is asked to help a college student pass an exam.
Gracie tries to help a backward Texan pass his college tests. George's monologue on exams is amusing, and so is Gracie's driving test. Some good moments.
8.07  Burns and Allen: THE AFRICAN HUNTER

George promises his son that all will be normal in t he Burns household when Ronnie brings a new girl friend home. But unfortunately Gracie has a guest of her own, a famed big-game hunter who hankers for the jungle.
Gracie is entertaining a house guest, a noted African hunter with a penchant for jungle atmosphere, when Ronnie brings his new girl to the house.
Ronnie's new girlfriend brings a witch doctor when she visits George and Gracie.
8.08  Burns and Allen: ONE LITTLE FIGHT

Ronnie accuses Ralph of girlfriend-stealing.
Ronnie and his buddy are at odds when the latter accuses the former of stealing his girl friends.
Gracie and Blanche Morton get carried away in a mock battled staged as an example for Ronnie and his buddy Ralph. Ralph has accused Ronnie of stealing his girl friends, and long-st anding friendships are on the verge of dissolving. [JB]
The show belongs to Gracie and her neighbor, Blanche Morton, tonight. They break cups and dishes and trade insults, which Gracie takes seriously for a moment. The girls enjoy each other this outing and so should you.

Gracie takes it upon herself to help a failing cl assmate of Ronnie' s but gets her students mixed up. As a result, a straight "A" student faces flunking. [JB]

Unaware that the only result of Gracie's fall in a downtown store is a torn pair of nylons, the claim adjuster is ready to do anything to prevent a lawsuit. After he meets Gracie, he's convinced that she must have su ffered a head injury.

Son Ronnie helps a pal find an apartment, and George and Gracie misunderstand. There's the usual fuss as Gracie and her neighbor, Blanche, make a botch of things, but the result is a lively show. George's monologue has some nice chuckles.
8.17  Burns and Allen: McAFEE AND THE MANICURIST

One of Ronnie's friends falls in love with a girl whose parents are wealthy. Afraid that his poor background may spoil his chances, the young man asks George and Gracie to pose as his parents to impress the young lady's family. [JB]
Jerry Gilbert has given his girlfriend, Sandy, the impression that the Burns' house belongs to his parents, and Gracie decides to further the charade by posing as his mother. But who will play his father? Could it be George, or Von Zell, or Harry Morton perhaps?

Harry Morton's safety record is in jeopardy as he collides with another car while driving with Gracie as a passenger. Complications arise when the driver of the other car is a young lady who attracts the interest of Ronnie.
Gracie and Harry Morton get into a car mishap.
Gracie happens to be riding with their neighbor, Harry Morton, at the time of an accident, but George convinces her she should not testify in court on Harry's behalf.
While Gracie is driving with neighbor Harry Morton, they have a minor traffic accident. Gracie is all ready to testify in behalf of Harry, when the driver of the other car, a pretty girl, appears on the scene, Ronnie persuades his mother she must testify against Harry. [JB]
A slick show as the grownups prevail. Gracie is about to testify for Harry morton in a traffic accident George is afraid Gracie's testimony will put Harry away for life and he plots to change Gracie's mind. Teenagers can watch Ronn ie necking for a few moments with a handsome creature named Maye Loizeaux.
8.20  Burns and Allen: THE JAPANESE TEXAN

Gracie and George plan to celebrate their "tenth" (but no one knows exactly what tenth it is), and Bonnie Sue demonstrates her acting prowess as she attempts to land a part as a Japanese girl in one of producer Walter Sinclair's movies.
Gracie is approached by Ronnie and his girl, Bonnie Sue, for help in getting Bonnie Sue the role of a Japanese girl in an upcoming movie. Gracie agrees to try, but the plan becomes complicated when Harry Von Zell decides he wants to hand a part in the same picture. [JB]
George finds himself in the center of an Asian mystery when Gracie tries to help Ronnie's girl friend land a part in a motion picture.
A Japanese actress is asked to help Ronnie's girl friend secure a role in a Japanese movie.
Gracie has a dinner party and invites a producer to meet Ronnie's girl, hoping he'll give her a movie role. To explain the dinner, Gracie tells George it's their 10th anniversary. There's a delightful scene between George and Gracie as they try to figure out just what they're celebrating. Bright show.
8.21  Burns and Allen: HYPNOTIZING GRACIE

Hypnosis alters Gracie's personality.
Despite inner misgivings, George Burns allows Gracie to meet a hypnotist and his worst fears are realized when Gracie emerges from the meeting with a completely different personality.
Gracie persuades George to let her see a hypnotist. She comes b ack from the meeting a completely changed woman. In fact, Gracie shows signs of being a genius, much to George's dismay. [JB]
A hypnotist succeeds in transforming Gracie into the smartest woman in the world, and no one can snap her out of it. [PT]
In this enjoyable show, Gracie is hypnotized and gives intelligent answers. She's not easily hypnotized though, and almost makes a professor give up his trade. Gracie gets just as many laughs with straight answers, so her fans won't be disappointed.
8.22  Burns and Allen: GRACIE IS BRILLIANT

Hypnosis increases Gracie's I.Q.
Gracie Allen, so changed by hypnosis that she is capable of high level conferences with world authorities on every subject, becomes a big problem.
Gracie starts winning all the quiz shows and George is reduced to doi ng all the household chores. [PT]
Thanks to a hypnotist, Gracie's become a mental giant. But poor George is a little tired of Gracie's new-found genius, and longs for his wife to be her old scatterbrained self. Unfortunately, the hypnotist has disappeared. [JB]
Gracie's still a brain trust tonight, and she's about to make a killing on a quiz show. Talking with neighbor Harry Morton is more interesting now than jabbering with Blanche and husband George. It's all good fun, but the best scene comes at the beginning when George cooks breakfast for Gracie.
8.23  Burns and Allen: RONNIE'S FAN CLUB

The lone member of Ronnie's fan club gets a date with him.
The story revolves around ten year old Edie Westrope, who is the president and only member of her own Ronnie Burns fan club. And, by the way, she happens to have a gorgeous older sister.
8.24  Burns and Allen: FROZEN PASSION

Ronnie persuades his mother to help his girl friend, Bonnie Sue, obtain an acting job. When Gracie learns that a film producer has asked George's advice about a film, Gracie feels she ha s found the perfect way to sol ve Ronnie's problem. [JB]
George discusses the production of a movie with producer Jack Bradley. Gracie attempts to cast family and friends in the movie, but runs into trouble when it turns out she is basing her plans on a rejected script.
Gracie begins casting family and friends in a proposed movie; Harry Morton's father visits.
An enjoyable shambles tonight, as Gracie stages a show in her living room to impress a movie producer. She and neighbor Blanche are cast as dance-hall girls. Gracie, of course, is using the wrong script, but it's ever so much better this way.

8.25  Burns and Allen: HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

A very frustrating episode for George: first, he has a lot of trouble getting out of the house to play golf, and then Gracie decides to use him in a scheme to help Mr. Jansen the plumber pass a physical exam.

Gracie has a wonderful plan to help her plumber-friend Mr. Jantzen pass an insurance medical examination. She will merely substitute George in his place! [JB]
Cheerful episode with George trying to get in a game of golf, but finding it impossible to get out of the house. Gracie takes his car, a doctor comes to examine him, and son Ronnie waylays him, but George doesn't really seem to mind.
8.26  Burns and Allen: SOFTENING THE PROFESSOR

Ronnie and his friend Ralph cut two days of college classes because of spring fever. Gracie tries to help the boys so they won't get into trouble with their professor.
Ronnie and Ralph decide to cut classes.
A spring show tonight as Harry von Zell falls in love, neighbor Blanche Norton buys an expensive outfit, and son Ronnie Burns cuts his college classes. Gracie helps each one and fouls them all up nicely.
8.27  Burns and Allen: THE PUBLICITY MARRIAGE

To cure a fan of her infatuation for Ronnie, Gracie announces his marriage to another girl.
Ronnie and his girlfriend read of their ma rriage.
In an att empt to end a young girl's infatuation with Ronnie, Gracie and Harry Von Zell decide to announce that Ronnie is married. Ronnie quite surprised when he reads the announcement in the newspaper, but the girl, Bonnie Sue, is more than just surprised. [JB]
Ronnie has a young girl pestering him, and when Gracie tries to stop her by saying Ronnie is married, the news hits the papers. Lots of scenes with the youngsters tonight, and not quite enough of Gracie and Blanche.
8.28  Burns and Allen: BLANCHE GETS A JURY NOTICE

Blanche has been called for jury duty, and Harry calls the judge to make sure she is accepted.
Harry Morton is happy to learn that wife Blanche has been summoned for a month's jury duty. When he calls the judge to be sure they accept Blanche, Harry is only thinkin g about enjoying a month of peace and quiet. But the judge suspects it is a ruse to avoid serving on a jury. In the confusion, Gracie manages to get her name on the list for jury duty too. [JB]
Civic responsibility is rife in the Burns' household Newspaper review:
When neighbor Blanche is called for jury duty, Gracie is terribly sad because she can't go along. Undaunted, however, she applies for jury duty herself and befudles the judge before he knows what hit him.
8.29  Burns and Allen: GRACIE AND THE JURY

Gracie creates mayhem as a juror on a counterfeiting case. She confounds the judge and her fellow jurors with her usual antics, and her mishandling of the evidence ultimately gets Harry Von Zell into big trouble.

Gracie manages to disrupt the entire courtroom when she begins her stint as a member of a jury. A counterfeiter is on trial, and Gracie inadvertently purloins the evidence. [JB]
Good show, with Gracie in fine form in her new surroundings, Last week, she was accepted as a jury member. Tonight, Gracie terrorizes the court from the box, and, what's worse she gives away the evidence - a $20 bill to neighbor Blanche and Harry Von Zell.
8.30  Burns and Allen: RONNIE MAKES A RECORD

Ronnie decides to record a song.
George convinces a recording executive that son Ronnie should make a record. But Gracie thinks George is the one who wants the record contract. [JB]
Primarily a plug for Ronnie's new record, but h andled with such good humor that it ne ver becomes offensive. Ronnie is to make a record but Gracie is under the impression that George is supposed to do it.
8.31  Burns and Allen: RONNIE'S ROYALTY CHECK

Gracie worries about Ronnie's financial savvy.
Gracie becomes concerned about son Ronnie's first royalty check for his new career as a recording artist.
Gracie worries that Ronnie will spend his money foolishly when he receives the first royalty check for his new recording. Then a pretty blond singer pays visit a visit to Ronnie, and Gracie is sure the girl is after his money! [JB]
Gracie worries too much in tonight's episode, and when she worries she's not as much fun. Ronnie buys her a dress with his record earnings and Gracie t hinks he bought it for a new girl frien d. As usual the Mortons are seen arguing about money and cooking, but the main trouble tonight is there's not enough of Gracie's giggling.
8.32  Burns and Allen: A VISIT FROM CHARLES VIDOR

Movie director Charles Vidor pays a visit to George. He is looking for a master of ceremonies for the annual dinner of the Screen Directors' Guild. [JB]
Film director Charles Vidor becomes the target for one of Gracie's schemes.
Gracie wants Ronnie's girlfriend in Charles Vidor's movie.
Grecie and neighbor Blanche twitter like little girls when movie director King Vidor calls on the Burns family. Vidor wants George to ask Jack Benny to emcee a guild dinner, and George is properly hurt.
8.33  Burns and Al len: RONNIE GOES INTO THE ARMY

Ronnie considers joining the Army.
It looks as if Ronnie is going to be drafted, so Gracie decides to prepare her son for the discipline of Army life. She adapts the Burns household to a military routine, in the hope that Ronnie will become acclimated more easily. [JB]
Son Ronnie is about to join the army and Gracie gets in some last moments of mothering him. She has a fine time getting Ronnie and George out of bed early for prectice. Getting up early doesn't bother Gracie. She's so nice making others miserable.
8.34  Burns and Allen: LOCKED OUT

George's dealings with a British television executive seem destined for a breakdown.

Gracie makes plans to go to New York with her friend Blanche, but she doesn't tell George about the proposed trip until she's ready to leave. Ronnie decides to take advantage of his mother's absence to plan a birthday party for his girlfriend. [JB]
Confusion reigns when Gracie starts making arrangements for a trip.
No surprises tonight, but it's an enjoyable show. Gracie wants to go to New York and talks neighbor Blanche into liking the idea, too. Then both of them g o to work on their husbands, with the usual mixups.

When Ronnie mixes up the hotel reservations for his newly married friends Frank and Linda, George and Gracie feel it's their duty to invite the newlyweds to spend part of their honeymoon in the Burns home. During their stay with the Burnes, the young couple casts a romantic spell over Gracie, Blanche and Bonnie Sue, Ronnie's girl. [JB]

Ronnie is making plans to have a Ronnie Burns Entertainment Troupe at Big Bear Lake during his summer vacation. But when George finds out what Ronnie's grades were, he decides that Ronnie should attend summer school instead. [JB]
Son Ronnie has big summer plans, but father George soon puts the damper on them. George says Ronnie has to go to summer school because he made such poor grades during the regular term. Naturally, Gracie is on Ronnie's side, but her schemes don't work too well.

A visit from a foreign-exchange student throws the Burns household into turmoil. Ronnie fears his girl friend Bonnie Sue will desert him in favor of the handsome Frenchman. [JB]
Misunderstandings in philosophies and language plague George when an exchange student is a guest in his home.
Marcel, a French exchange student gives son Ronnie a little competition in the Burns' house, for a change. Ronnie worries, Gracie isn't a bit helpful, and the usual mixups occur.
