Derek Hoddinott's review-
"Leslie Caron made her maiden flight in The Wild Bird, and disappointing
it was too. The play was static and said little that was comprehensible
for any length of time. If one boiled it down, I suppose Therese enjoys
being miserable and rich Florent enjoys being happy. That's how they remain
even when the play is over. They don't get married and they presumably
go their separate ways. There is little else in the play except for
some rich characterisations from Maurice Denham as M. Tarde and Hermione
Baddeley as Madame Tarde and wonderful Miriam Karlin as Jeanette. Miss Caron
was adequate in a part that was not in keeping with its background and Mogens
Wieth as the rich Florent was strong in the only character that really
had some life."
