Synopsis 1:
The stranger on the train was a bore, and it was impossible
to shake him off. That should not have worried Charles, but
this chance meeting was to have a deep and unsettling effect,
for there was something unexplained about the stranger,
something vaguely disturbing.
Synopsis 2:
A London accountant travelling home by train to Woking reluctantly
engages in conversation with an apparently insensitive and
over-talkative passenger.
